Default oil spill in Ramapo

5 - 50 thousand gallons of oil from SOS oil in Tuxedo spilt into river, Mahwah reported fish kill

They have managed to keep it very low key

Can smell it while driving on NY 17

Careful out there. It may not look like it is, but if you see anything in there, you can bet there was some overflow. It's not uncommon for the 'po to spill into the pond when the floods are as high as they were.

Either way, best of luck to ya!

went this morning and there was no odor or any sign of spillage or sheen on the water on the pond and the river looked clean and smelled fine...caught 1 LMB and 2 crappies, the 2nd one was HUGE and fat...never saw one that big, will put up a pic later, but all in all it seems ok, at lease at the ramapo reservation

Sad to hear but the fishkill was probably caused by the many millions of gallons of raw sewage bypass upriver as far as Harriman.

Unfortunately the nature of the beast whenever we get large volumes of water too quickly. All of the waters took a beating.

The rain this week should work out well flushing out the "crap".
