![]() I own a 1997 seaswirl 2150 walkaround and I'm having problems with water in the gas tank again! for the 3rd year in a row I've had to have the tank pumped out! I use absord and staybil everytime I fill the tank. this winter I only left 20 gallons of gas in the tank filled it previously and I still had water! I ask my machenic if he thinks I have a leak somewhere and he says no? well what do I do?
this boat does not sit in the water when it is not being used! I told the wife that next year I'm getting a new seal for the floor hatch and taking it off and having a look at the tank myself does anyone have any suggestions ? |

![]() If your having that much of a water issue, it certainly is not a condensation problem.
Water is getting into that tank from somewhere. Pop the inspection hatch and get a good look for yourself. Plastic/f-glass/aluminum tank? Look at every fitting and plate gasket/o ring. I'm willing to bet rain water is getting past a bad seal somewhere. |

![]() Check your vent line. Water may be splashing up the hull when you are running, getting under the clamshell fitting that covers the vent and running down the line into the tank. Put a larger clamshell on to protect the vent opening and put a drip loop in the vent line so water can't get a straight shot into the tank. Check your fill cap, if it is horizontal, can water sitting on it drip into the fill line? Check the top of the tank, is there a pinhole on the top of the tank which will allow standing water from clean-ups to drip into the tank ? I had a similar problem when I first got my boat, it turned out to be vent line issues. Good luck.

How big is the tank and where is it located? Perhaps you can cut in an opening over the tank and put in an inspection hatch? I have done this over my holding tank and over the fill ports for both fuel tanks. This way you don't have to lift the deck. I would check the vent line first though !
