Monksville night time Walleye 5/19-5/20
Hit Monksville in search of Walleye last night. Long story short, me and my other fishing buddies put a lot of time in here last year at night in hopes of Walleye but ended up striking out, but still managing a few nice bass.
Got on the water around 11pm. Weather ended up helping out in a great way, as the clouds and rain cleared and the moon provided some light. Headed for the first cove on our agenda and started casting floating rapalas into the shore line. Within 10 minutes, I had a HUGE blowup, followed by my buddy having a huge blowup, but no hookup. No less than 2 minutes later, my buddy hooks up with this guy. Measured at 23", did not manage a weight, photographed, and released. Fished til about 2am with no more fish, but it was still a success as we did get a nice fish in the boat. Anyone have an estimate on the weight of this guy based on the pics and length(23") ?

That's a great report. Many guys say nite time is the right time.
I can't give an estimate on the weight, I just say that's a great looking walleye !! |

A 23 inch walleye should weight in the neighborhood of 4.5 pounds. Nice catch.

I agree on the 4.5 lbs (is that you Nick?). I caught one 26 inches last year and it came in at 5 and 1/4.
