Default Overpower??

Hi,there,

I have a 2003 Tracker V-14 Boat with a 4 stroke 25hp Mercury motor. I am thinking about getting a new motor.

I found a good deal online for a 50hp 2009 Mercury motor.

The label on my boat says "max 40hp". Would it be really a problem to have 10 more hp on my boat?? Would it be really dangerous? Can anyone help?

Thanks,

If I am not mistaken

V-14 Trackers sit low to the water.

Overpowering your boat is a concern making sharp turns, you can actually over turn your boat causing it to fishtale out of control, and gravity taking you and who ever is with you overboard with an unmanned boat that is now out of control.

I dont know if an additional 10HP can do that to the boat you have in question, but its something to consider.

If you do end up getting the engine, I would definately have a killswitch handy on that boat and wrapped around your wrist at all time while driving.

More importantly your insurance MAY not cover you if a mishap did occur!
