The JCAA Heavy Hitters Fluke Tournament will be contested from 8/1-8/4. The deadline to enter is at 11:59 PM on 7/31. This is a “no frills” tournament with no Captains meeting or awards ceremony. However, the entrant who catches the largest fluke will win a brand new 9.9 H.P. engine donated by YAMAHA and $2500 cash*. Second Place will be a custom rod valued at $950 donated by Richard Hunzinger and $2000 cash*. Third Place will be $1500 cash*. Fourth and Fifth places will be gift cards/merchandise valued at $300 and $200 respectively. *Cash prizes are based on 175 entrants and will be adjusted upwards or downwards based on the number or entrants.
We realize that not everyone can fish two, three, or four days, so to be fair to everyone, each boat will be limited to fishing only one day. However, each entrant will be able to choose the day they fish. We are hopeful that we will have nice weather on at least one of those days. Prizes will be based on the weight of the single largest fluke. However, we will still have 1 fluke and 3 fluke Calcuttas for those who want to compete in that more skilled category. We will also have sea bass Calcuttas. We have various weigh-in stations from Sandy Hook to Cape May. The entrance fee $150 for up to a maximum of six people per boat. JCAA is a charitable organization that works for recreational anglers on fishery and environmental issues. We also have a program where we take DISABLED VETERANS AND SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN fishing. Except for a part time office manager, we are all volunteers. We work tirelessly on many of these issues but in order to continue our work and to better represent you, we need you to support our fundraising efforts. We attend many meetings, participate in conference calls, write letters, make phone calls and meet with various key individuals in regard to many of these issues. We need your help in ensuring the success of these important issues. We are one of the very few recreational saltwater advocacy groups that work exclusively for New Jersey anglers. As in past years, our fundraising efforts have a strong influence on our budget and what we can accomplish throughout the year. It costs money to send delegates to meetings, to meet with legislators, pay office expenses and fund day-to-day operations. Our finances were negatively impacted by the pandemic and it will take time for us to fully recover. Please support us by entering our tournament.
Thank you for your anticipated support!
