Default Seabass and Tog Report

Seabass fishing was OK but not lights out and with no wind, we flopped on and off the spot while on anchor. They definitely wanted clams more than crabs this time out. There were plenty of fish down there for sure since when I used a jig instead of a weight on the bottom of my hi low rig, I snagged several fish in the side.

After things got a bit frustrating trying to anchor and sit on the piece, we decided to move on since we got a call from our buddy boat Destiny II and they were into the tog hot and heavy.

Once again it was drop and reel tog fishing and they were absolutely crushing the jig as soon as you hit bottom.. Bill and Rich on the Destiny II had them on rigs, along with a good mix of keeper Seabass using green crabs.

I know there was a bit of debate on my last post about the best time for Tog and "Blackfish Weather". I have mixed emotions about it. On one hand it's really nice not having to bundle up to fish for them but on the other hand it's also great to have something to fish for later into the winter when it's cold.. Also seems kind of crazy that as of 10/15 the NY boats can keep 3 and we're only allowed one until our season opens up on 11/15. I guess you can't have it both ways but it would be nice.

Default Re: Seabass and Tog Report

They are allowed 4 fish on the 15th Oceanside .but their season is just over 3 months .
We get a little more than that with all the splits .
