![]() Six of the top 8 fish are in the 5-6 lb. range with the winner at 8.87 lbs. and second place barely over 8 lbs.. In years past, if there was a fluke tournament out of Sandy Hook you either had a double-digit fish or had no chance of winning and many of the fish across all spots on the leaderboard were 8 plus. If you had a 7 lb.or less in most cases it wouldn't make the board.
I'm happy the people who run the SHBA had a good tournament but in my opinion these tournaments are going to eventually fade into the sunset unless the responsible groups managing these stocks get their heads out of their ass and start realizing they are completely mismanaging this stock. |

![]() There were quite a large number of boats out later in the morning on Saturday in the area of the Shrewsbury Rocks and Rattlesnake. There was quite the fluke fishing fleet actually. We pushed to the offshore edge of the 'Snake before the fog rolled up the coast and pretty much swept everyone off the ocean. There were a couple other boats out there as the wind picked up from the South but as the afternoon went on we were alone. All in all, Saturday wasn't terrible out there.
As for going back in time and past winners, there were a number of 9+ lb fish that won....quite a few double digits. We have records of all the past winning fish weights going back years.
