Surprise Catch
After catching a few small Bass last night on the south side of the Raritan bay, I gave it another try this morning. Only had one little bump in the dark and after it got light out I tried a cast parallel down the Beach and landed a Weakfish. Don't think I ever caught one up here in April.

Re: Surprise Catch
Such a beautiful fish! I hope they continue making what appears to be a comeback as they were a great sport fish and one of the most beautiful fish you'll ever catch. Used to catch the big female tide runners of the Oceanic bridge and back in Raritan Bay early in the season when I believe they were coming in to spawn. Not sure it was as early as April but they did flood in with blue fish and stripers into the back bays. Bubblegum finesse on the shadow lines of bridges at night was always the presentation of choice or livelining bunker in the bay. Would be a great thing for them to stage a come back, not many know how great a fishery this was. Great catch!
