JCAA HEAVY HITTERS FLUKE TOURNAMENT 8/4-8/7 WIN 25K!!!
Once again, JCAA is running its Heavy Hitters Fluke Tournament for four days, 8/4-8/7 and we will have weigh-in stations from Sandy Hook to Cape May. We realize that not everyone can fish two, three, or four days so to be fair to everyone, each boat will be limited to fishing only one day. However, each entrant will be able to choose the day they fish. We are hopeful that we will have nice weather on at least one of those days. We have made some significant adjustments to our rules. We have changed the prize structure so that prizes will be awarded to the single largest fish rather than the three fish total. We did this because New Jersey only allows one fish over 18” which means 3 different anglers would have to catch a larger fluke to be competitive and some of our entrants fish with only one or two anglers. Also, since it is a one fish tournament, we are allowing 6 anglers/people per boat rather than just 4. That will allow some of the for-hire fleet to join the tournament if they wish. Anyone can get lucky and catch one big fish. However, we will still have 1 fluke and 3 fluke Calcuttas for those who want to compete in that more skilled category. We will also have sea bass Calcuttas. The big news though is that we will award $25,000 for the largest fluke over 12 lbs caught on Sunday, 8/7, the last day of our tournament. All those who fish in our tournament on Sunday rather than on Thursday, Friday or Saturday will be eligible for this special doormat prize. There will not be a special charge for this category this year. We just paid out $50,000 for a 12.45 lb fluke caught in our traditional tournament so it is possible to catch a fluke this large. Lastly, we will be paying out prizes based on just 150 boats rather than the 250 that we did last year.
The early entry fee per boat is $150 by 7/28 or $175 after 7/28 for up to 6 anglers/people per boat. Visit
