Crushed the YFT's again!
We decided to get a little more sleep this trip knowing the fish have been biting steadily throughout most of the day. Left the inlet at 5:15 AM - on the grounds by 8:30. Seas were mixed with a tight chop - couldn't run much more than 28kts and got out a little later than we wanted. Within 20 mins, we had two rods go off and our two largest of the day...one about 80# and the other roughly 75#. Fishing slowed for a few hours and really picked up around 11AM for us. Caught a few more on bait and one on a old school gold jig. We were tight on room and decided 5 YFT's between 55#-80#'s was enough. Ran out of room to keep them as one box in the front of the boat was full of fishing crap. Headed back to the barn in mixed seas, first 25 miles ran at 22knots then picked up and ran 38-40kts from 50 miles in. We didnt bother trolling - guys were getting on chunk, jig, and troll. Felt fortunate to put the catch together...a few guys and trip was less than 12 hours in total!
