Default Surf Report 11/15

I was covering the afternoon/night shift at work for a coworker yesterday, so I decided to take the morning for a little Surf outing! Left my house at 4am and hit the beach by 5:30. Incoming tide, high was right before 9. I started off throwing a black metal lip swimmer but that got no love. As the sun came up, I switched to a 1oz diamond jig with a white t-teaser above. They’re a cool product, makes your teaser like a swivel and the hook point always faces up. Got the first schoolie of the day on the first cast, on the teaser.

Kept walking the beach north and switched to the SP Minnow, but kept the teaser on. I hooked into another schoolie, this one was a bit bigger and ended up being the biggest of the day, and he fought like crazy! Ripping drag and digging down into the sea floor. Finally landed him, he hit the SP. Awesome fight! Right after that I caught a hickory shad on the teaser.

Went on to catch 2 more schoolies, SP and teaser respectively. I never really used a teaser before today but I definitely see why they’re popular. Saw a bunch of other guys out there, most of who had said they too had caught small bass and some who hadn’t caught. I left the beach around 10:00 to drive home and get ready for the afternoon.

Such an awesome day! My best day of surf Striper fishing so far. Tight lines!

I didn’t get a hit at Manasquan yesterday evening. Saw one blackfish caught. I guess you were in northern Monmouth County.

Caught, tagged and released a striped bass double at 24.5”and 18.5” with an Ava A17 and sand eel teaser rig in Manasquan Inlet on the outgoing tide this afternoon. Lost a small flounder.
