Default Tuna

Thinking about trying tuna fishing next year. I know a good time away but any suggestions would be helpful.

I would start looking for them around mid May on the 20 or 30 line. Troll jig or cast and check the Sat shots for temp breaks. Good luck.

Are you looking to go on your own boat or a charter? If its your own boat I would either fish with someone who knows what they are doing to show you the ropes or go on a charter first so you can learn what you need to do.

Go with the 6-pk; offshore overnighter to a canyon. Go all in lol... You'll learn a LOT on one trip watching a crew who does it for a living. My 1st overnight tuna trip when i was 14 RUINED me. Lol... In a good way!

Keep in mind the best Yellowfin and Bigeye action in the canyons has been in June-July almost every year for at least the last decade. I’m not bashing Overnight or chunking trips, as our boat runs them too, but June July tuna trolling produces fish! And you do it in shorts, t shirt and flip flops! And June July also has good BLUEFIN in the mid shore grounds! If doing a June July overnight trip see if it can be combined with Makos and/or Tiles!
