Default Bow mount transducer

I just got the helix 5, trying to hook the transducer onto my bow mount edge. I got the minn Kota bracket. Seems like the transducer doesn’t lock into place. Kit came with bolt, 4 plastic bushings(2 different sizes) pipe clamp and the bracket that mounts to the motor. Anyone else have same/similar model that has hooked it up. I’m not that handy, so I could be doing it incorrectly but there are no directions. Thanks

Are you trying to mount the transom transducer?

If so I would call hummingbird and swap out the transom mount transducer and get the trolling motor puck. There might be a small fee.

Yes, trying to mount the transom one that came with the unit. I will research the puck option, I didn’t know about that thanks.

The transducer mounted on the trolling motor is the option I chose on my first boat. It works well except that if you also have a gas outboard, the transducer won't be in the water and you can only use the Helix with the trolling motor in the water. I'm sure you already knew that.
Make sure that you affix the cable to the trolling motor mount securely and in a manner that does not allow the cable to find its way in-between the scissoring action of the motor mount as it is pulled up and out of the water to lie horizontally on the deck. That will either snip the cable in two, or mangle it so bad that you can't use the unit any more. Don't ask.

Yes, thank you for the info. I have a tendency to not read directions and just hope it works. Usually means that something will fail and I will need to to extra work. Thanks. I usually don’t use my gas engine. I have a 9.9 in my garage with maybe 30 hours. I start it every year and lube it up, thinking I will head to the valley or spruce run. Dare to dream. Thanks

Thank you for the info about the hummingbird swap, that is what they offered when I contacted them. They offered the bracket at $22.00 or to swap the transducer for free provided that my is still unused. Thanks all.
