![]() Dams really took a toll on these poor fish. The East coast in the most heavily dammed part of the county. Commercial pressure on these fish is unrelenting also. Starting to see the numbers tick up a bit on the Raritan. River Herring are opportunistic breeders, they will go where ever they can unlike American Shad that return to the same waters. Fish ladders are no picnic for these fish as they do not like to be confined.
