Independence Day is almost a week away, and it wouldn’t be the Fourth of July without the annual Macy’s fireworks display! A pyrotechnic anthem for the ages will ignite New York City’s famed skyline on Wednesday, July 4th, as the 41st Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks launch an unrivaled barrage of color, shape, light and sound to celebrate Independence Day. The nation’s largest pyrotechnic display will come to life over the East River and the celebration can all be seen on the Miss Belmar Princess with more than 60,000 effects rumbling toward the grand finale!

Yesterday afternoon, we fished up the beach to try to find some fluke that would cooperate, but we didn’t have any luck. The high winds made drifting impossible, so we headed offshore a bit and anchored up on some rocks to pick away at the sea bass for the rest of the afternoon, all of which were released. The sea bass season opens back up on July 1st.

Today, we were proud to have the NJ State Firefighters’ Mutual Benevolent Association for the 1st Annual Mark A. Virag Memorial Fund Fishing Trip! The Mark A. Virag Memorial Fund was created in honor of our fallen brother and former NJ FMBA Sgt. At Arms, Mark A. Virag. The fund will be set up to provide financial assistance to NJ FMBA members that are diagnosed with cancer.
We were fishing up north along the beach and in the bay for fluke on this special occasion. We had the most action with shorts, but pulled in some nice keepers, as well! Although the waters were a bit choppy today, a great time was had by everyone, and we look forward to seeing you all next year for the 2nd Annual Mark A. Virag Memorial Fund Fishing Trip! We honor and appreciate the service and sacrifice made by all firefighters throughout the state of NJ and across the nation, and we thank the NJ FMBA for the great work they do for their fellow firefighters!
