Default Barnegat bay Fluke report

Got an early start and had a good bite on the last of the ebb, but no keepers. We had some birds in the mix too. At the slack the bite slowed and we had some light bites and my friend got one at 23 inches on a small killie on a high hook. That was it for some time until the wind turned NW and got us moving, I got a 25.5 incher on a yellow 3/4 ounce jig head with a pink gulp and a spearing on my old Kunnan light spinning rod. We finished with the 2 keepers and a few shorts. Alot of boats fishing by the research buoy today, but we stayed away from the crowd. Went back out this evening for an hour and got nothing in a stiff SE breeze.

There is some nice sized Fluke in the bay this year for sure. I hope they stay for awhile. It's like a 40/60 keeper to short ratio, which is pretty good anywhere in my book. Although it's definitely not fast paced. Thnx for the comeback.

Good luck when you go down there guys. Hit me up, I know a couple areas or it might be fun to buddy boat and radio fish? The fish I filleted yesterday had mantis shrimp in their stomach. I've had luck with the Yamamoto hula grub in the past down there when that bait is around. Although it's very soft and they tear it up. Haven't tried it yet this year.
