Default Walleye, stripers and walleye...Oh my! 4/21

A day late and an EZ Wider short... haha!

Was supposed to be grocery shopping on Saturday late afternoon but "took a wrong turn" and ended up on the river a bunch of miles past the grocery store. Oopss...

Throwing stick baits for 10-15 min and it gets crushed. I'm thinking toad smallie. Fish jumped and to my surprise it was a beast mode largemouth. Lipped her and she was all of 5 lbs. Thick healthy fish who I mouth fisted for fun!

Slid her back in the drink and off she went. Next cast and whammo! No way! No jumps this time but again, I'm thinking smallie. To my surprise, another big fat largemouth! Slightly stumpier but very thick and healthy. These were the 1st legit largemouth I've ever caught in the river. Very cool. 10 min later I finally went grocery shopping lol...

But the itch has been BAD lately. So around midnight off I went...again...to the river. Hit a couple spots. Plucked a dink walleye which wasn't picture worthy on a soft plastic. Moved further downstream throwing soft plastics when my lure got pummeled. Decent fight at fish then awfully sluggish. Reached down and lipped a 26" striper. In the next 45 min to an hour I managed 6 in total with 2 at 26" and the rest 18-20+". Very fun on lighter tackle. All looked like lean, exhausted males in need of attention lol...

Left around 330ish. Here's the porn...

Very nice! I've been trying to ignore the striper run and focus on freshwater this Spring. Those pigs give me hope!
