How was your year NJFers?
Happy New Years Eve to all my friends and fellow anglers. Hope your celebrating somewhere safe with family and friends! Eat well, drink well and enjoy the people you surround yourself with. On that note, how was your 2022 year of fishing?
Mine was good and consistent for the most part. Only problem I seemed to fish way less this year due to the never ending weekend wind or onslaught of family events, in which I dont mind these days. Family is a beautiful thing! Festivities are about to begin at my place! Let the games begin, LOL! See you all in 2023! HAPPY NEW YEAR! TIGHT LINEZ and FLAGS for all this Ice season!!!

Re: How was your year NJFers?
Overall had a good year. Everyone remained relatively healthy, the fluke slot helped and the boat ran well.
My son and his bud had a tough time in their yaks on the sweet water spots they hit all season. Always came home in one piece so thats a win in my book. Happy New Years boys! Heres to a safe and fish full year!

A lot of good NY trips with Nick, cant put in words the good times ive had. A very satisfying and successful start to surf fishing. And more fun ice fishing in Jan-March 2022. It's a good life

Re: How was your year NJFers?
Slow ice fishing in 2022 but I play a unique waiting game and sometimes that's just the way it goes!
Spring was decent with walleyes and hybrids, and spring run striper fishing in the back bay. Once it got warm and fluke season arrived, that's what I primarily did into September. Lots and lots and lots of fluke on my dinner table. Fall was tough due to the kiddos sports schedule but managed a few fall run striper outings, including one BANNER day in the way back with my boy Steve. We were the only ones out on a falling tide and we had bass and bunker swimming between our knees. It was monsoon rain. We were soaked to the bone but caught like 40 fish each up to 38". I also got out to the Hudson on my dad's boat Oct 11/12 just before my 40th birthday. We could've sunk the boat in yellowfin and sub 100 lb big eyes...all on the chunk. Hand feeding them off the starboard side and beating on them all day and night long. I decked 9 or 10 fish to a 100 lbs and can't count the number of pulled hooks or break offs. I have never been so shot from a fishing trip. I also landed my biggest freshwater fish to date. A 46" tank muskie from the raritan river...solo, at night, targeting walleye with #14 fluoro leader. Fish was super thick and had to be pushing 30 lbs. I may have shat my pants. Maybe not. Not 100% sure. Made the best of my opportunities in 2022...

More salt than fresh. Did manage 1 river clean up so that's a good thing.
