Under the heading good news travels fast I think the fact you had to ask the question is some indication of the answer you're going to get............especially during a canyon season begging for good reports. Warmer water seems to be hanging south and east of the canyons, we need some eddies to break off and change things up. Been tough sledding out there so far but doesn't mean things couldn't change if winds and or currents bring some warmer water in.

It's not cheap booking a trip or two every season to the deep but it's still an experience most people in this world would kill for. My son and I have a trip this Friday on Jenny Lee, have heard so many great reports about the Captain and crew we're absolutely pumped. I know they give it their all which is all anyone could ask and if we do well........awesome, if not it won't be for lack of effort. The fact we could have a slammer trip and knowing the crew will do their best is all it'll take to keep spirits high and both of us at the rail all night. If it's meant to be we'll come home with lots of fresh steaks, if not we'll still have a great experience, lot of laughs and meet some new friends and great guys. What more could an of us ask for in life! Think we're going to take Jerry's P's lead and bring 15 cartons of cigarettes, that seems to be the ticket this year! FISH ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh boy

Not too much pressure

It won't be for lack of effort but it's been very tough

Did I mention Jerry quit smoking on our trip

JL is a smoke free vessel

I hear you loud and clear that you have to be there to catch tuna. This is my 23rd year tuna fishing and I thought it could not be worse than last year but it seems like it's another repeat. Last year I booked a few trips and only got out on 2 and was blanked on both. This year I booked one and figured if I heard of a decent bite I would hop on as there are still plenty of spots on some of the tuna boats. My Sunday to Monday trip on a ns from Pt. Pleasant got blown out and unless the reports pick up I think I'll just roll the money to some offshore sea bass trips. I know the past two seasons are hurting the tuna party boats as they have a lot more open spots than in past years. If a decent report comes in than I will go tuna fishing but $400 is a lot to throw away when the catches are so dismal. Wish the tuna fishing was like the 90's!

Fishing is spotty but last few trips seem to be picking up, although still nothing like in the past.

On my trip last week we got 4 longfin, 2 short swords and a few mahi. BIG (eye?) fish spit the hook.

My buddy got a 240+ Bigeye and a nice YFT last week.

Another buddy and his partner got 3 longfin, a Mako and lost a big fish a few days ago.

I am hoping we get a push of good water in the next 2 weeks and I can jump on a last minute trip and try again.

Fish On and Fish Hard.

Just watched the video of the Jamaica bringing in a nice fish. I can't believe that no one brings in their lines when there is a fish on. That's why I fish Limited trips and charters.

There are 25 people. If everyone reeled in for everyfish would e hard to catch anything. I have been out and caught 15 tuna on a trip and not one tangle with 23 others on board. Have to work together and be smart. If Here are
Many hooked up and I am out of water I usually drop a big down and it has paid off many times.

Looks like decent water is moving west from far eastern edges. Fish are being caught. Get ready for a better bite. Drips and drabs stories of eyes, yellows, penguins and bluefin all in the mix with broadbills and makos spicing things up. No shortage of swinger and smaller gaffer mahi, too. Butters and jigs. Hoping to make a report soon!!

Plenty of time left. I remember tuna fishing in December one year in tee shirts. Killed the big bluefin!

Love the Jenny Lee. Great crew and boat.
