Default Mud Buoy Revisited

If you remember the discussion about the Shark River dredging project and the channel markers in the mud, here is an Asbury Park follow up article. With some prodding and correspondence among members of this site with the appropriate people, the issue was raised about the proper placement of permanent channel markers. The article in the Press calls attention to the matter and seems to be pointing to an all but slow resolution to the questions, but a resolution nonetheless. The permanent markers will be installed soon.

Still, be advised that the old permanent markers do not mark the new channel. The old markers will be removed when the new ones are installed. You'll need to check or reset your GPS waypoints and track.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and efforts to keep our boaters and fishermen safe and informed. That's what this site is all about.

The writer of that article told me she tried to get some of the people from here to add to her article. she seemed sincere about reaching a REAL conclusion to the amount of work actually completed, she said most she contacted refused any input.

When she contacted the Dept of transportion she was informed their survey showed the depths as listed between 6-12 at low tide.

I sent her links to the pics that had been posted here, showing that to be untrue.

Anyone navigating that channel that can show depths shallower should reach ot to her as she was trying hard to show the work wasnt done correctly , but just hear say isnt gong to do it.
A pic of your depth finder and gps location might get some attention.

wish I was in already but looks like im 2 weeks out yet.
