![]() (2004 Evinrude 150HP) I have a fuel leak, it blew out the fitting (w/red arrow in picture) and is leaking gas bad, it's part of the injector lines, I was wondering what that brass fitting/ valve is and what it's used for. Was wondering if I could plug it for now. This not the actual one on the boat , it's a picture i found online to use as a reference.

![]() Thank you, I was on both those sites yesterday, they dont tell you what it is, they just sell the WHOLE setup with that hose on it, and it's EXPENSIVE, I wanted to just buy that hose. I happen to find the piece and was able to install it back in, hope it hols up on the Cong Sunday. If you see a big fireball, thats me....LOL

![]() does the silver piece screw into anything else or is it just a schraider valve like in a car tire? It may just be a port to check full pressure, You may be able to get a new schraider valve and install it into the silver fitting if thats the case cant see from the picture

![]() Correct... It really should be there, not leaking, but if all else is ok, you can certainly run with it plugged for a while with no problems.. Typically that fitting is used when there is a running problem and you[or a technician] would need it to put a fuel pressure gauge on and check the fuel pressure against specification.
On automotive systems, it is also used to run fuel injector cleaning products through.. not sure if that is done the same way in marine applications. I have also used that port to check for water in the fuel at times over the years, and it also works well for that. You can access the fuel without taking everything apart. For now, plug it, when time allows, get it fixed right... bob |
