![]() Hey guys. Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. A combination of being too busy, not much fishing time and nothing really worth posting.
This past Saturday hit Echo at 6:45ish a.m. before the heat. Crazy how we were pretty much the last boat in the water. We got off at noonish and we were one the last to come out. Some of you guys are truly out fishing at the crack of dawn. I was struggling to move n get up at 5:30 am. Ahahaha. I’ve been fishing a 3’ and 4’ gulp minnow on a small weedless jig all summer to MUCH success. I can catch everything from panfish to bucketmouths. I fully embrace the Berkley Gulp line due to the fact that they are Biodegradable. If a fish keeps your bait, it will eventually digest in its gut. You drop one on the ground or the water, same thing. It will break down. The same can’t be said about most plastics we use. They will linger in the fish and the environment for who knows how long. After all, they are plastic. Anyway, that’s my good deed for the year. Maybe a few of you will try them and switch over. I catch as many fish it not more over my old trusty Yamamoto Senko baits. Anyway, At echo, we fished whitish gulp minnows and grubs. Managed 2 smaller SMB and one decent LMB (pic 2). My buddy hadn’t been out in quite some time. I was very happy for him as he landed a nice 2.8lb LMB(pic 1 and used a scale to weigh). From what I’ve read and experienced personally, catching LMB at Echo is rare. It’s primarily a Small Mouth fishery. My quest for Muskie continues. I think I’m at 2k cast there so far. 8k more to go. Yesterday hit a local Pond right before the T-showers. As soon as we reached the water, the rains began. Had rain jackets so it wasn’t terrible. But our pants and boots were SOAKED within seconds. Lighting and thunder all over the place. Almost turned around and said F-it. But then my cousin landed a nice 3+lb LMB using one of those live target Sunfish top water baits. Pretty awesome fight and thrashing that fish put up. After getting soaked for another 10 minutes or so, it was down to a light rain. Then the sun came out and a double rainbow overhead. Can’t beat that!!! Simply amazing. He fished a heavy football jig, purple and black and landed 4 more LMB. I fished a nightcrawler colored Gulp worm and grub. Landed 5 fish as well. One in the 2lb + range (pic 3) and as daylight ran out on us around 8:15pm, what appeared to me to be the biggest fish of the evening. Ide say 3.5lb +. Hard to say in the darkness. Hope to get out more and more these next few months. Fish will be strapping on the feed bags any day now as the weather turn. |

![]() Some really nice BUCKETMOUTH's dude! Sounds like some good action to me! The pic with the rainbow is kinda epic! You should edit the pic to black and white and then enhance the rainbow in full color! That's a really awesome shot! Good stuff! TIGHT LINEZ!!!
