![]() Have an upcoming trip to the Caribbean and would like to get the stronger mosquito repellent. Many stores haven't put out there seasonal items yet and was wondering where I can pick up some with DEET this week?
Thanks. |

![]() Personally, DEET repellents are now a supplement to treating my clothes with permethrin spray prior to a trip. Generously apply the spray to your clothes and hang them out to dry. As it dries, the permethrin, which is the active ingredient dries and binds to the cotton on your clothes and is virtually non-toxic to humans once it's dried on your clothes. The same isn't true for the bugs though! It also lasts through about 10 wash cycles I believe. I'll apply DEET sprays only if I'm finding that I'm getting a few bites here or there, but you'll find that the treated clothes will keep most everything away, including ticks, mosquitoes, etc.
Here is what I use: http://www.amazon.com/Sawyer-Product.../dp/B00MA950E0 Hope that helps

![]() Where in the Caribbean ?---My family and I recently returned from visiting St. Maarten, St. Barth's and Anguilla, none of us were bitten by a single mosquito nor did we see a mosquito or even hear them buzzing. We stayed in several areas near mangrove swamps and bays that looked as if they were prime mosquito spots but as I said, we didn't see one.

![]() Maybe it's seasonal down there but I've been to DR a few times and not a single skeeter. Antigua on the other hand was brutal lol. Glad I packed a huge skeeter net to drape over my bed at nite.
You can usually get deet sprays at dicks in the camping section. Or order some good ol Muskol online. Or go Ry609's way. Can't go wrong witH that!
