Default A Couple of Bass Before Work

Made myself drive up north of Rt. 80 from Bedminster to toss some spinnerbaits. Rustled a bass from against the bank, so I just snapped on a Chompers worm weightless, bass took, but 11 inches. Same sort of situation further along, wouldn't take the worm. I got in back of the pond after trying to get a few bass in view to take the worm, and had a big wake come up behind the Chartreuse willowleaf, kept the pace of it going, and the bass engulfed--about 17 inches. Next cast, hooked another, same spot in close, and wasn't surprised because they're often together. Lost it. So now I'm off to work, but it was worth the driving to fish an hour, even though I really want a bass over 5 this year...buddy Fred nailed a 7 on a topwater two weeks ago...

Any decent spots you hit near by? I'm in the same area and always looking for new spots to try. Bedminster pond hasn't given up anything but aggravation and a few lost fish. Pm me if you want. Not looking to spot burn.

You could try the ponds on Trump's golf course. You may or may not catch a few bass before Trump's security patrol shoots you dead.

There's the big ponds on the AT&T property. You may or may not catch a few bass before AT&T's security patrol calls the police and they you dead.

Bedminster Pond just doesn't look like a place that hold bass. It's more of a shallow, weed-choked sunnyfish and bullhead type of pond.

Have caught some nice bass in Bedminster Pond, but unless you want to reel over the top of algae mats for hours on end for maybe one or two at most, it's March and early April, those warm fronts. Spinnerbaits work then. Three pounds my top bass there, but I've heard of "bigger." In any case, it doesn't fish very fast.

Anyone who reads my blog can infer there's a "neighborhood" pond just hundreds of feet from where I live. It's actually surrounded by huge office buildings.

Otherwise, around here I fish RVR & catch bass in the pond there too. North Branch Raritan has smallmouths and trout. Sunrise Lake in Washington Twnsp near Mendham has some bass or used to. And Burnham Park Ponds used to be fantastic especially for pickerel inside the city limits of Morristown. Maybe it's comeback, haven't fished it in years now. Anyone who cares to try the pond in the middle of Bernardsville, between the Fire Station and Police Station, may be in for a surprise. I don't know, haven't fished it in years and never will again. My son and I had some of the best moments of our lives there. He even caught a 14 1/2-inch rainbow trout in August. But he was little so we honor the memories by never returning. We've moved on. Lake Hopatcong is different--big and wide open and year after year we just keep coming back.

The 15-acre pond north of Rt. 80 I like to fish, I tell no one about. Selfish of me, but that's better all round.
