Default July 6 Pike

Had one more day of vacation, so I decided to hit the river in the morning and chase some pike. Had a good bit of action, and caught 3 fish and lost one. Highlight of the morning was this pike that absolutely destroyed a topwater, coming out of the water three times after the lure before it was hooked.

Top water was crazy this morning, one hit my buzzbait so close to shore it almost jumped on the bank. Usually the stretch I fish produces 0-2 a trip, I had 4 today and 3 blowups in 2 hours.

Very nice guys, seems like the fish knew the Pikeathon was over and started to bite well again lol. I had a pair as well, 1 on a big topwater with a vicious strike.

I must have hit the wrong section. 2+ hours(about a mile of river) sweating away for not even a swipe, swirl or hit. No signs of life except a few carp jumping and the river was pretty clear too

I did stumble across a mosquito breeding pool that was also full of baby tree frogs. I guess the stagnant pool was a good breeding area. Hundreds of them little green guys. Many still had their tails. I'm hoping they eat as many mosquitoes as they can.

yeah i had to come through the same section with a few different lures getting new fish each time on a few different lures. top water being one of them. i had one jump out at my lure as i was lifting it out of the water to cast, scares the crap out of me every time, almost as much as the giant turkeys jumping over my head out of the trees! hahaha.
