![]() I’m new here so let me first say hello.
I’m planning to fish the middle part of the Delaware this year, specifically the national recreation area. I have a 16 foot Lowe aluminum. Because of my boats size I know I’ll be limited to slack water areas of the river. I figure on putting in at Dingmans and working my way as far up stream as far as I could go and then drifting down as far as I could go. Any of you guys fish this stretch in a similar size boat? I’m after smallies and muskies and of course anything else that will end up on my line, I’d appreciate any tips or advice anyone can offer… thanks for listening |

![]() After you've explored as far as you can from the Dingmans access check out both Smithfield and Poxono accesses. The latter in particular will allow you access to a far greater distance of river both up and down.

![]() It's been a long time since I've been there but unless the river flow has changed you need to stay close to the PA side after you leave the Dingman's ramp. Your only obstacle is what I call an eddy a short way past the bridge. We used a 9.9 and set it in shallow water mode (pop up) to navigate through a small passage you will need to approach (north) at a good clip and take a sharp right (east) then left heading back north and you will have clear sailing to Milford. This time of year the water should be high enough to get it done. Some great fishing in that stretch of the river; giant Muskies rule! If you don't make it, then bring along some shad darts and go for shard at the Dingman's bridge. Good luck.
