Default Eastman's Whiting Slam 9/7

WOW what a day. I've never caught a whiting but that changed today big time. I charted the Eastman's 6 pack Annie B today to target whiting. We caught an incredible amount of whiting and some ling as well. Our first started slow with a a steady pick of ling and some small whiting. Capt Nate worked his butt off to move the boat and pick away but we were still getting mostly ling and small whiting.

Around 10 am we hit what would be our last spot of the day. For the next 5 hours or so we experience an incredible big whiting bite. It was lock and load as soon as your sabiki hit the bottom. Capt Nate said they were true "king whiting" and he's never seen this quality size of fish in these numbers caught on rod and reel. All of our fish today were caught on sabikis tied with 50lb mono and tipped with squid.

These guys were a blast to catch with sometimes getting as many as 4 at a time.

After hearing todays report, my friend and njfishing member marc fishark531 is running a last minute Annie B 6 pack for whiting 9/25: http://www.njfishing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73763.

I may hop on this one too if I can get the time off from work

I can't wait to get back. Here are some pics from today:

Yes, we started off very slow with the whiting. Only a steady pick of ling. Capt Nate made a few moves and then found the promise land. As soon as the sinker hit the bottom you were on for the next few hours.

I think Sam was the only experienced whiting fisherman on the boat lol
