braid
Do you guys respool every year with braid? I do with mono because it seems to weaken. Not so sure about braid.I'm using 65 lb power pro.Appreciate any thoughts.

Re: braid
i just replace it when it starts to look faded from the sun or when it starts fraying off little hairs... every 2-3 years i guess

Re: braid
I use the moss green PowerPro in fresh and salt water. I've noticed it fades pretty quick but the line strength has stayed the same. I'm going on my 3rd year with a few of my setups and it still looks good. I know some people will reverse spool it to another reel and get a few more seasons out of it.

Re: braid
I do my trolling setups every year, I buy bulk mono in 5000 yd spools like trilene or similar in 12lb. I have 14 linecounter setups so its much cheaper, just got sum off ebay last week for 39 bucks. Braid I do the same, I get a bulk spool of 10-15lb powerpro and spool all my freshwater spin setups w it, then find a deal on the 300yd heavy stuff for my salt and muskie setup. I personally havent used the same braid 2 seasons in a row, but u could definitely jump in a boat and let all your line out and then reel it back in wet and it will straighten out alot, or reverse spool it onto another reel like mentioned, but I would think the inner line would have alot of memory on a spin setup

Re: braid
The braid on all my striper rods have been the same since last time i ran out and if you want just flip it over i usually just reel onto a different reel and consider that flipped but itl stay good up to forever braid is some mean stuff!

Re: braid
I use 20lb Power Pro on a few of my freshwater spinning outfits and have had the same line on for several years. Used it in the salt a few times as well. As stated before as it starts to fray I strip it off until it looks good. I have reverse spooled it once as well and it's like brand new. No memory issues with the braid but the mono for sure. I use Trilene XL (8 to 14lb test) as much as I can because it has way fewer memory issues. I try to get the bulk (or at least larger spools) when they are on sale. BPS does that everyonce in a while. The Cabela's Mono aint that bad either. I've had good luck with their 8lb mono as well.

Re: braid
As was mentioned, I flip mine. If you're not putting it from one reel right to another, I take it from my reel and put it on any empty paper towel roll or coffee can, then onto another paper towel roll or coffee can and then back on my reel and it's backwards and like brand new. I only put about 75 to 100 yards of braid over my backing so it's not that tedious. You can see when it's starting to fray too. I probably replace mine much more than necessary, but all I really do is musky fish and I'm using the same 3 or 4 reels most of the year.
