Talking Scratched our itch

Well we decided to give it a shot. Got to the marina had to walk 2 blocks to the boat because of a house fire across the st from the marina. So me the Grand High Exalted Mr Druler, Sven of the Hook, Islander II and Shrimpy climb aboard. Ger and Kev tell us they just helped out a brother fisherman out his boat sunk in its slip and they all managed to get to the ramp and on a trailer. I hope it's not to terrible for him. So with low expectations we get to the mouth of the marina and get sprayed across the bow the minute with past the jetty. We dodged countless pots working our way to the river. We fish the lump and nothing. Venture down to the bridge nothing. Gerrrr says 5 dollar first fish. So after Steve sat around watching he puts on a worm dunks it and bammmmmm!!! Shrimpy gets the cash with a short bass. Next drift we get closer to the bridge like 12 inches bammmmmm Kevin's rod bends and bounces Black Fish. Next time bammmm Kevin another black fish. So I decide to try too. Bammm I get a small black fish, then Kevin gets a short bass, I get 2 short bass. While Svens pole lays dormant Gerrrrrr did not fish so he was the REVERSE boy most of the time REVERSE I'm snagged again. Get closer!!! So final total 5 short bass and 4 tog I think and 2000 laughs. And Shrimpy got the cash. Well done sure beats sitting on the couch

Always a real treat to fish with these guys! I never take it for granted. Thanks for the invite and early release so I was able to catch the walking dead with the kids!

Sven and Kevin, a pleasure fishing with you as well! Till next time, shrimp out!

It was definitely good to get out. Turned out of the inlet into some real tight chop which didn't even move that Carolina Classic, need to get me one of those. Got to the spot and started drifting. Right away Sven gets snagged on the bottom, and I joke we should have brought the crabs, as there was structure everywhere. After Steve's $20 striper, I get a blackfish. Told you we should have brought the crabs. The continuous ball busting had me laughing my ass off the whole time. Had a great time and thanks for the invite. It was a pleasure fishing with you guys. REVERSE!!!! Oh, and we would have caught more if Joey would had let me be the captain.

Good to get out. In spite of the winds it was a nice afternoon to be out on the river. Just what I needed after being cooped up in the house all week, especially with this cast of characters.

Stopped by Ralph's yard sale in Atlantic Highlands on the way and got great deal on a nice light rod that matched up perfectly with my Avet SXJ.
