Would be nice to join someone local i can share my experince with. Currently located in Secaucus, NJ. Any advice more than welcome at least. I heard something about Passiac river which is close...but where to go??

Welcome, Jakub.

I have no experience fishing carp but have seen some large ones in a few spots in my ventures. One spot where I've seen a good amount of carp at, you'll have to look up on a map. The lake isn't named on the map, but the name of the lake is Potash lake in Oakland, NJ. You'll want to google map- Iron Horse Road, Oakland, NJ. The body of water just across the street is considered Potash Lake. Across the street from Iron Horse Rd, by the lake is also a large dirt parking lot and there is a gravel/dirt boat/kayak launch. There is a trail that can followed around most the lake on foot, there are areas to fish from shore, and I've seen some monster carp in there. Granted I have not fished there in 2-3 years, but most times I've fished there I saw carp just under the surface. I know that's a bit more of a ride from Secaucus, but it may be worth it. Wait and see what others on here recommend.

The Duck Pond in Secaucus has a huge population of carp with good numbers of fish in the 20-30 pound range. It also has some big channel cats too. I used to live in Jersey City and fish it all the time. It's tiny and muddy, tucked behind a bunch of factories and smells like goose crap, but it is loaded with big coarse fish. That would be a good place to start. Also, the Hackensack River runs along Secaucus and is loaded with carp as well. Good luck.

You will need a fishing license. They are available at most sporting goods stores, bait & tackle shops, and Walmart.

Good luck!

So,

was fishing on the Duck pond today. 3 small catfish and 1 TURTLE hooked after 5 hours of carping...the storm interupted my passion of angling . NO carp at all. Boiles and whole corn worked well anyway. I assume there is a huge number of fish...
However It seems that it s to much shallow there...not more than a few feets. BTW where have you been fishing there? The spot on the other side of paking?

thanks

Jakub
