Default Fri evening pond stop

Hit a small local pond for 30 mins after work today. Had 4 bass on 3" sluggos fished weightless, 3 11" fish and my first nice one out of this small shallow pond, around 17." Mostly small fish here but my favorite this spring because it is mostly 20" deep so the fish jump repeatedly after being hooked. Immediately after the bigger fish, I hooked a 35lb snapping turtle and decided to break it off and go home before I tired a snapping turtle autopsy in front of the local kids.

Those snapping turtles are nasty! I pulled up on 2 sets of biggg snappers doing the horizontal mambo last weekend in the kayak, pretty sick.

This one stunk, had a bunch of fish guts hanging out of its mouth along with the sluggo. Was very lucky that we did not meet in a more secluded place as there was half a cinder block about 3 feet away from me..*L*

Did you check in with Jmurr to see if he was interested?

I do love turtle soup and have thought about it, but the cleaning process would be a major PIA.

Growing up, I was always taught that snapping turtles have four distinctly different kinds of meat in them, that tasted like different things. One was fishy, one was almost like red meat, one was like chicken, and the last I cannot remember. Any truth to this?
