Talking This past week salmon river steelhead report!!!

myself duck or bleed, jimmy live bait and my brother father and friends been up since last friday. all i can say if its salmon u want go get em! plenty of them 90% of the fish we caught were hooked square in the mouth. pretty much averaged at least a coho or two a day and they are still running good as well. Enough of the salmon landed a few, and then it was time for chrome! I was fishing for them breaking salmon off left and right all on my brain was chrome and boy did i get em. rained on and off usaually in the mrng then afternoon sun came out water temp was 58 degrees as of yesterday and water was at 200 or 250 with the run off and downpour rain from yest. congrats to amy duck or bleed for landing their first steelhead on the fly wtg! all fish were caught on 8lb test fluro one or two shots of dinzmore, most fish were caught all on egg patterns will be back in two weeks

I asked FastEddie about some things like - why do they let you take fish that are spawning, it just doesn't seem right. He said there is NO stream side cleaning, you have to take your fish to a cleaning station where not only do they clean your fish but also harvest the eggs and sperm for the hatchery. I have yet to go up there and try this but I may do it in a few weeks, (I just feel bad about killing spawning fish) and all chrome would be C&R in my book.

Can you tell us more, I'm loving the photos and reports, it all looks great !!!

Length of season ? Closed areas ? Limits ? Fly fishing only ?

Andy the salmon are all going to die the the sperm andeggs are hatched at the hatchery then stocked in the lake. the trout species live all year long in the river and start dropping back heading back to the lake in the later months . Its a shame to kill those fish that would live and make better season . ny season license expires oct first. bag limit is three salmon or salmon and a steelhead or brown. cant have both open to all fishing spey spin centerpin . From ur weight to fly or hook must be four ft or less if its longer its a easier way for the hook to snag the fish and its a ticket. Hook cant have bigger than 1/2in gape on hook and tandem riggin flys is allowed but closed durin whilethe salmon are in the river hope this helps.

Eddie orange pink yellow orange and chartreuse and couple stoneflie patterns globugs and suckerspawn flys
