Pics from a few recent trips by my buddy and I. Perch, bluegills and small mouths are some of the largest I've ever caught or seen. Fish are in their fall feeding pattern getting ready for the winter. Great time of year to be on the water.

If you don't mind me asking, what were they caught on?

Herring and small plastics vertically jigged right on bottom. Used Octopus size 8 circle hooks, every fish
was hooked in the mouth and released. Fish were caught in depth ranging between 20 to 30 feet on sandy bottom with light patchy weeds or no weeds at all. Last edited by Broad Bill; 11-11-2025 at 03:27 PM.. |

Some more beauties. Real thick fish feeding heavy before winter sets in.

I've never done it but they say cook the yellow perch fillets then chill in the fridge. Dip in cocktail sauce later, poor mans shrimp !

Andy they're very good coming out of the cold in the spring, not as much during the summer or fall. I let all the fish go but understand coming from cold water, crappie and yellow perch are delicious. These big girls are real trophies and would never kill one. Smaller males in the spring maybe if I was in the mood for a few fish tacos but everything is really C&R.
