Default Freshwater Fisheries Meeting on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m

Join NJDEP Fish & Wildlife's Bureau of Freshwater Fisheries on Thursday, February 20 at 7:00 p.m. to learn about current research, management and fish culture activities with warm and coolwater species. The presentations will be followed by an open public question period.

2025 meeting topics include:
  • Channel Catfish production at the Hackettstown Hatchery
  • 2024 Coolwater Sampling Results at Pompton Lake, Monksville Reservoir and Mountain Lake
  • 2024 Black Bass sampling update at Assunpink Lake, Round Valley Reservoir, Union Lake and Manasquan Reservoir
  • Aquatic invasive species management and sampling update

I don't quite get the catfish stocking. Rutgers installed an infrared light so they could watch fish passing during night at the Island Farm Fish Weir on the Raritan river, it was hoards and hoards of channel catfish. After a flood where do all these catfish end up, that's right !

Maybe they will explain why they killed off all of the brown trout. The excuse about covered raceways doesn’t work since they were raised in an enclosed building
