the first skunkin of 2025.

It took 18 trips out to get the first skunking of 2025. I went out to a deeper spot than i have been fishing to see where the fish are, well the bigger ones at least and fished from 7' to 20' and did not even mark one fish not even baitfish most fish i get are in shallow under7'. Something is going on with the cong the fishing has been real tough lately, it is a struggle to put small to average sized fish on the ice. the best day i have had was the contest last Sunday were i put 35 fish on the ice. the three good fish i got was a 2lb12oz slime dart and a 1lb 14oz lmb( that i did not weigh) instead i put up a 9oz perch that was third place for a short time. the biggest perch of the contest was 15oz. lets hope things get better soon the lake has 5" to 10" of ice depending on where you go.

It happens! A couple of days before that really cold weather rolled in, I went to my favorite, go-to trout stretch and got skunked for the first time there. Four hours, zero strikes.
