Point Pleasant Blackfish
Needed to get out of the house and let my mind wander, left PA with my son at 4 am, stopped and got 3 dozen green crabs in Hazlet, got to the inlet at daybreak, tide was high, took a while but got my 1 keeper just over 15", and a few shorts, lots of fisherman, was surprised at how many, guess I have a lot to learn about black fishing, tried jigs, no luck, lost a ton of hooks, and sinkers. We stayed along the wall, rocks were slippery going out on the jetty, saw a woman take a pretty good fall. They were dredging the inlet, water was off color, stayed till 2:30 and left, gave away about 1/2 dozen crabs. Stopped off at Keyport fishery and had Flounder sandwiches, grabbed some platters to take home. May try it again soon before I go in for surgery, a long day for me just getting done with chemo, was wiped by the time we got home. But it was good to get out, oh on a side note, phone dropped out of my hoodie into the river, had a scuba diver come along trying to get rigs, told him about the phone, took a few minutes but he found my phone and still works, lol. Have a question, should you go light as possible with the weight/jigs or heavy so your offering doesn't move as much with the tide. On a side note the guy next to me tried clams and got 2 fluke which surprised me

Re: Point Pleasant Blackfish
I’ve been blackfishing the inlet (both from the wall & rocks) for the past 3 weeks. Depending on how strong the tide is running, I use anywhere from a 3/4-1.5 ounce tog jig. Most days I’m able to walk off with my one keeper. Have seen a few blackfish approach the 20” mark caught.
Still plenty of out of season fluke (shorts & keepers) being caught in the inlet. Other than a few small bluefish caught on mullet rigs, it’s been quiet on that front as well as with false albacore. I have seen a decent amount of bait ranging from adult bunker to peanut bunker to rain bait. |

Re: Point Pleasant Blackfish
Thanks for all the encouraging words, they made me feel good. I may try again before surgery as my recovery is going to be long. May be late winter before I'm able to get out and about, cancer sucks, again thanks for your thoughts and prayers
