Re: Weather forecasts increased activity in Fishery Mangement Forum ??
Dale, your right its time for everyone to start sending e-mails this weekend, not everyone can fish in the canal this weekend.
Here is something of intrest that I just got from NACO National Charter Captains Organization
Dear NACO Member,
LAWSUITS MULTIPLY AGAINST NMFS
As regulations continue to cause chaos among people and coastal communities those with the financial ability have started filing lawsuits to stop some of the insanity. Four of the current lawsuits have a component in common….Marine Recreational Fishery Statistical Survey (MRFSS), all four of these lawsuits accuse NMFS of not complying with the January 2009 mandate from congress to overhaul the MRFSS data system. Instead NMFS has charged on enforcing stringent overfishing rules without have the appropriate statistically sound data to make harvest estimations.
The Recreational Fishing Alliance (RFA) has filed suit over Seabass.
The Fishing Recreational Alliance had filed a lawsuit over the south Atlantic snapper grouper fisheries and the Gulf of Mexico Grouper and Amberjack fisheries. Additionally the Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) has filed suit in the Gulf of Mexico over the recent Grouper IFQ catch share program. They argue that NMFS has locked in an allocation and state it is inappropriate. I guess its up to the courts to settle this issue.
so I think that more than 1 area got burned lately
