I am old enough to remember the days when Striper were very scarce.. They were rare enough in the 70's and early 80's, that a single 20 pounder would make the papers. There were a few guys that caught them all the time in those years, and many of them that fished in their own boats used live eels at night ... I can recall in those days ANY tidal creek that ran into raritan bay was loaded with eels, and you could catch dozens for bait any night you wanted with a piece of squid, a sinker ,an eel hook , a rag and a bucket.. I don't think its that way any more.. Thanks for the explanation Capt Ron.. I went out on the Sea Pigeon with Capt Marty.. Great cap and crew, buy perhaps the slowest party boat I have ever been aboard. Those were the days. bob
