Re: Ice Warren county NY lake Klem/Kellum
That looks like Tannin stained water.. Lots of those in the Adirondacks, most have white sand bottoms, brown water , and most aren't that productive.. There are fish there, but that stained water is acidic, and not very productive.. Lots of guys find them tough to fish.. Locals would probably know the productive areas best, so you might want to ask questions when you're there.
Those tannin stained lakes have no rocks for crayfish, nymph life, not a lot of bottom dwelling minnows etc. I don't bother with them, as the clear water, rocky lakes have a lot more life in them.. Look, it might be great, I have no way of knowing of course. Even though I live in NY state, I don't fish the Adirondacks..Too many hard hit tannin stained lakes.. The Adirondacks are "world reknowned" for fishing, but I don't know why.. I never found those dark sand bottom waters near as productive as clear rocky, weedy lakes....You're going to be there anyway, so its worth a shot.. Maybe it doesn't get hit hard by tourists, and thats always a plus..
