Back in the 90's I owned an 81 Wellcraft Steplift for about 10 years and in my opinion that is one of the best and most seaworthy boats in its class. That massive flare in the bow made it a very dry boat. I remember towing my boat out to Montauk in the fall to striper fish and we were fishing the rip area. Starting getting pretty snotty so we headed back to the marina and I remember easily passing a 25 ft Dixie that was getting pounded and taking waves over her bow. I just looked at him as I easily passed by dry as can be waving and he just gave me a mean look.
