Many times it will cause it to foul with the line .
And then you’re relying on the strength of the jig wire to fight the tuna .

Sometimes having the top assist hook longer so it reaches almost mid jig is best .
As is using a larger wider gap hook .


ALWAYS tie to a solid ring or grommet as shown .
Many guys tie to a split ring which is an easy way to lose a big fish
