I've been on a few boats that have prohibited braid, mostly as a courtesy to mates who have to untangle braid from mono and from the near impossibility of breaking off a snag. That was awhile ago and not around here. Things are changing, but some captains still don't want to deal with it. I once saw someone's outfit get pulled out of his hands and overboard when he couldn't pull his line (braid) free before a mate could get to him. Also, when a tight braid line comes across a tight mono line, the mono is going to get sliced through. and the fish lost.
