Tuna are Biting!
We had some good action on our Saturday night Canyon trip.
It did not take too long before a 100 lb swordfish hit the deck when we started fishing during the night.
We read fish passing under the boat from time to time but the bite did not turn on until sunrise.
At sunrise there were big readings of yellowfin and longfin schooling under the boat.
Erik Bogan got the party started when he hooked into a 60 lb long fin. There was another quick hookup
on bait after his fish took the jig and other fish followed it towards the boat.
We continue to pick with shots of fish after that for a couple of hours.
Yellow fin and long fin were caught on either bait or jigs. Both butterfish and sardine produced bites.
Before we headed in We had time to make several stops for mahi-mahi and had good action with them.
a few passengers were able to drop to the bottom when there was a short lull in the action and catch some tilefish.
The famous Capt. Ron made his first tuna trip of the season aboard the Jamaica, just in time for the bite to begin.
He landed a 50 lb tuna, five mahi-mahi, and four tilefish. We are scheduled to sail this week.
