Saturday-
Caught my fresh live bait on the Musky and accidentally caught 2 Rainbow Trout. It’s August and the western streams are running cool. Lots of surface action out there in the late afternoon. 1 of the Trout looked like a fall stockie and the other was about 24 inches long, silver and looked like a Steelhead. Lost that one at my feet unfortunately. Haha! What’s a net?
Flatheading was slow but managed to land twins at about 15 lbs. a piece. Not bad considering I haven’t been hitting it hard this year. They put up one hell of a fight that’s for sure. The first one ripped lots of drag. The second one just had one good long run and tons of angry head shakes.
Sunday-
Hit the back bays, Channels and inlets for Fluke. Caught some shorts on the incoming tide but couldn’t buy a keeper. The tide switched to outgoing and again with that east wind I couldn’t catch a fish. Seemed to be the same for everyone I talked to unfortunately. This hurricane will probably shut down the season depending on the storms track. Wound up with 15 shorts to 16 inches in 9 hours of fishing. That my friends is horrendous! Just terrible! I usually do well from land this time of year. Ahhhhhgggggg bummer!!!
Monday-
Hit the Pike grounds in between rain storms. Not much moving for me and the water was super low. Did manage to catch 3 Pike around 30ish inches or so. Very feisty little guys were jumping all over the place when hooked. I’d like to thank my fellow NJFers for saving me a few small fish! Lol! Weekend well spent and finishing it off with a rack of baby back ribs slow cooked on the grill.
TIGHT LINEZ FELLAZ!!!
