Sadly this isn’t my first rodeo when I comes to hooking myself. Last time it was a trailer hook through my thumb and I had no tools and had to drive home with a spinnerbaits hanging from my thumb. This time I was prepared - a pair of pliers to pinch the barb (which was fortunately protruding from the meat of my palm) and then the hooks slides out with suprisingly little resistance. You can also cut off the barb if you have the right tools. The next day the entire area was swollen and painful so I took some amoxicillin I had left over to give my immune system a little help fighting any infection and 4 days later it is pretty much healed. Still worth it:-)
