They are similar, but completely different. Regular PP in the higher line class is like rope. The slick 8 stuff in the lower class 10-30 is super waxy and hard to get regular knots to hold with. Sufix in the higher class 40-50+ is a little on the thicker side as well. And I know of certain brands that are notorious for random snapping, fraying, etc.
