Shore access is very limited, it's almost all private property. You can fish were Shaky said and there is a park in Bolton Landing where you can fish from a pier, but you have to pay to park. East side of the lake is all private. There are a couple of state parks on the west shore you can fish for a day use fee.
Been there many times over the years since working there one summer when I was in college in 1970.
The only times I've had good fishing was when I chartered a boat. You can get a 2 or 3 hour trip for a reasonable price.
