I'll add a few things. 1. make sure Kevin puts a gimble on the 7' rods your having made. 2. for inshore bass/blues I think the JX is overkill. The new G2 SX with 12lbs at strike and 20lb at full of drag is really all you need, loaded with 50lb braid and call it a day. Plus the smaller reel will feel more comfortable in your hands and can play double duty as a bottom fish setup, espcially if you plan to use it for seabass and fluke. YOU DO NOT WANT TO FLUKE WITH A JX. If you like a taller reel, even the MXJ G2 would suffice.
