I had heard oven cleaner did the trick.
Acetone is dangerous and VERY reactive. Nail polish is only 10%. If not totally removed it will turn plastics to jelly.
I wiped down a plastic clock once. It evaporates Quickly. But keeps destroying even after evaporated.
