That's awesome, you must have been super proud. Nothing would make me happier than to realize not only did I Instill my passion for something (sport, hobby, whatever) in my son, but that in doing so I created an enthusiast whose skills will surpass my own. Since I am mediocre at best at my three favorite pastimes - surfing, fishing and ice hockey - I am confident that my boy will have no trouble beating his old man while he is still young enough to make it somewhat embarrassing.
